Trash

Curbside collection of residential municipal solid waste is weekly.  All trash needs to be inside a bag AND inside a container. Solid waste must be placed at the curbside by 6:00 am on the designated collection day. No loose plastic bags or trash on the ground or in other containers will be collected.

RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES MUST RECYCLE IN ORDER TO HAVE THEIR SOLID WASTE COLLECTED.

Single-family Dwellings can place two 32-gallon containers or one 64-gallon container out on the curb weekly.

Duplex Dwellings can place two 32-gallon containers or one 64-gallon container per unit out on the curb per unit weekly.

Multi-family dwellings and commercial establishments on collection routes are limited to seven 32-gallon containers (224 gallons total) per week. Multifamily dwellings or commercial establishments requiring more than seven containers per week must use a dumpster and arrange for private collection.

64-gallon containers must have a bar and slot to allow mechanical lifting/dumping.  

Recyclables

Recyclables are collected every other week. See the Curbside Recycling Calendar to determine which weeks recycling gets picked up. There is no limit to the amount of recyclables that a household can leave curbside for pick up. Please clearly mark your container “RECYCLING” or get a free sticker from Public Works to put on your recycling container. 

Please note that plastic bags, and styrofoam are NOT recyclable.

Brush

A small amount of brush (what can be held under the crook of your arm) may be mixed in with trash for disposal.

Bulky Items

Bulky items collection are only available for those residents who are on the City’s curbside collection routes.  If your Condominium or Homeowner’s Association trash  is collected by a another agency,  the City will not collect a bulky item from  your curb unless it is brought to the curb of a City or State right of way.

Non-Metal Bulky Items

Each large item, affixed with a "Bulky Item Sticker," including furniture, mattresses, box springs, carpet (bundled in manageable sizes), toilets, sinks and other non-metal items will be collected curbside on regular trash collection days. Bulky item stickers may be purchased at the Laconia City Clerk's Office in City Hall, or at Public Works. Stickers are $8.00 each; purchase one sticker per item.

Metal Bulky Items

Qualifying metal items such as appliances will be collected by appointment only. If you have a qualifying metal item for pickup, call the solid waste coordinator at 528-6379 for the next scheduled (monthly) curbside pickup date. Metal bulky items also require a "Bulky Item" sticker for pick up.

No electronics (TV’s, computers, monitors, microwave ovens, . . .), No freon containing items (refrigerators, air conditioners, dehumidifiers . . . ), and No ammonia hydroxide containing items (propane powered refrigerators)  will be accepted for curbside pickup. 

Please do not place any bulky items at the curb until after 7 pm the day before your collection day.

ALL BULKY ITEMS MUST BE LEFT CURBSIDE BY 6:00 AM.
